This report takes readers inside a cyber security professional’s day, and reveals a façade of program maturity. Overburdened by manual efforts, a continuous onslaught of threats and vulnerabilities, and limited manpower, security professionals say they feel significant levels of frustration and stress.
Third party research firm, Enterprise Management Associates, surveyed more than 400 cyber security professionals about the daily challenges, pressures and events they experience while protecting their organizations. Key statistics include:
- 74% of respondents say they are overwhelmed by the volume of vulnerability maintenance work
- 79% said their patching process was significantly manual
- 52% of threat alerts are improperly prioritized by systems and must be manually reprioritized
- 64% of threat alerts are not worked each day
