Reporting to the Board: Where CISOs and the Board are Missing the Mark
Data breaches are an unfortunate fact of life – and the problem is getting worse. IT and security executives are responsible for providing accurate and actionable cybersecurity reporting to their CEO and Board of Directors. Bay Dynamics commissioned Osterman Research to conduct a survey of IT and security executives about the types of cyber security activity they report. Key findings from the survey reveal:
- 40% of IT and security executives agree or strongly agree that the information they provide to the board contains actionable information.
- 81% of IT and security executives employ manually compiled spreadsheets to report data to the board.
- More than one-third of respondents said they do not know all of the data breaches that occurred during 2015.
